2027: Ringim/Taura Constituents Rally Behind Sankara for Reps Seat

Members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency have called on the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Auwal Dalladi Sankara, to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general election.
The demand was made by several political groups drawn from the constituency’s 20 wards during a weekly Government–Citizens Engagement Forum held on Sunday, 16th November 2025, in Taura Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, Ibrahim Sani from Majiya Ward said the call for Hon. Sankara’s candidacy is driven by the constituency’s desire for a more competent and effective representation capable of attracting national projects and democratic dividends.
He lamented that successive representatives from the constituency had failed to deliver meaningful results, adding that the people now want a leader with a proven record of service, compassion, and dedication.
“As Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Sankara has distinguished himself through outstanding performance. This has earned him the confidence of Governor Namadi, commendations from the State Executive Council, and widespread popularity, which is why he is celebrated as ‘Jakadan Alkhairi’ across Jigawa State,” Sani stated.
He further assured that he and other concerned constituents would mobilise support to persuade Sankara to heed their call, even if it means appealing to the governor and other political stakeholders.
Similarly, Sani Shawai from Taura declared the readiness of his group to contribute funds to purchase the nomination form for Hon. Sankara in 2027. He described their advocacy as a “rescue mission” aimed at freeing the constituency from what he termed years of poor representation.
“This is a rescue mission. We are determined to liberate the constituency from amateur politicians who do not care about the people’s plight and have failed to emulate the good leadership qualities of Governor Umar Namadi,” he said.
During the town hall meeting, chants in support of Hon. Sankara filled the venue. The incumbent House of Representatives member, Hon. Sa’adu Wada Taura, was also present but reportedly refrained from speaking to avoid possible embarrassment.
