President Asuwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has on this Sunday received the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, at the State House, Abuja, in a private meeting that underscored ongoing engagements between the Presidency and traditional and religious leaders across the country.
According to THE NATION News Papers the meeting, which lasted about 20 minutes, took place six days after President Tinubu hosted traditional and religious leaders from across Nigeria for an interfaith Ramadan and Lenten breaking of fast at the State House.
THE NATION News Papers reported that the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), his majesty Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar was represented at the meeting by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar.
Details of the discussions between the President and the Sultan were not immediately disclosed as of press time.
The visit comes at a period of increased consultations between the President and prominent national figures, particularly traditional rulers, elder statesmen and religious leaders.
TRUTH FINDER gathered that within the last 10 days, President Tinubu has also held separate meetings with elder statesman and former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.), as well as former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd.).

Gowon, who spoke to journalists after his meeting with the President on Saturday, expressed satisfaction with the administration’s performance, stating that the government was doing its best to address Nigeria’s challenges across political, economic and security sectors.
According to the former Head of State, President Tinubu is making efforts “all round” to tackle the country’s pressing issues and advance national progress.
Sunday’s visit by the Sultan of Sokoto further highlights the continued interaction between the Presidency and influential traditional and religious institutions, particularly during the ongoing Ramadan and Lenten seasons, which hold deep spiritual significance for millions of Nigerians.
Observers say such engagements have become a recurring feature at the Presidential Villa in recent weeks, as the President continues to meet key stakeholders on issues of national importance.
The Sultan of Sokoto remains one of the country’s most influential traditional leaders and serves as the spiritual head of Nigerian Muslims through the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
