The Kano/Jigawa Chapter of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reinforcing innovation, research and technological advancement as cornerstones of his administration’s economic reform agenda.
The commendation came as the Chapter congratulated one of its members, Hon. Engr. Magaji Dau Aliyu, PhD, mni, on his appointment as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO).
In a congratulatory message signed by its Chairman, Senator Umar Kibiya Umar, the association described Aliyu’s appointment as a deserving recognition of his professional competence, leadership capacity and years of meritorious service to the nation.
The Chapter noted that President Tinubu’s decision to entrust the nation’s apex science and technology complex to a seasoned technocrat underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to repositioning critical institutions for national development.According to AANI, the development is not only a personal milestone for Aliyu but also a reaffirmation of the administration’s resolve to deploy science, research and innovation as drivers of industrial growth and economic competitiveness.

It expressed confidence that the new SHESTCO boss would provide purposeful leadership capable of promoting cutting-edge research, encouraging innovation and ensuring the practical application of technology for sustainable national progress.
“The Chairman and members of the Chapter regard this appointment as a valid testimony to the recognition of your professional competence and experience garnered over the years of meritorious service to the nation,” the statement read.
While acknowledging the enormous responsibility attached to the office, the association urged Aliyu to remain focused and dedicated in justifying the confidence reposed in him.It further assured him of its full support and solidarity, praying for a successful and impactful tenure in line with the Federal Government’s broader agenda of institutional renewal and socio-economic transformation.
