The Jigawa State chapter of the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has elected a new set of executives to steer its affairs, following the completion of the two-term tenure of the former leadership.
The new officials emerged through consensus during the state congress held at the 744 Mopol Base in Dutse. Mohammed Ahmed was chosen as State Coordinator, while Idayat Lawal will serve as State Secretary. Lawal Ahmad Bako was named State Advocacy Lead.
Other elected officials include Muftahu Abdu Sankara as Resource Mobilisation Lead, Abdullahi Sarki as Policy and Research Lead, and Binta Lawan Umar as Capacity Building Lead. The immediate past coordinator, Comrade Shuaibu Musa Kafin-gana, was appointed ex-officio.
A representative of the CS-SUNN national headquarters, Mr. Silas Ideva, supervised the exercise. He commended the smooth conduct of the congress and applauded the outgoing leadership for advancing nutrition activities across the state.
Ideva urged the new executives to deepen collaboration and intensify efforts to curb malnutrition and stunting among children in Jigawa.
In his acceptance speech, the new State Coordinator, Mohammed Ahmed, pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessors and strengthen advocacy to improve nutrition outcomes across the state.
