Jigawa Golden Stars Football Club have called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeal Committee to urgently deliver its verdict on the lingering dispute arising from their inconclusive encounter with Gombe United.
The club made the appeal in a press statement issued in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, and signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Ibrahim Isyaku.
Golden Stars urged the NFF to ensure that justice is served before the newly scheduled fixture between the two clubs is played.Comrade Isyaku recalled that the first leg encounter, played on March 7, 2025, in Gombe, was disrupted following an incident that forced the match to be abandoned.
The matter was subsequently reported to the NFF Complaints Committee.According to him, the committee ruled in favour of Jigawa Golden Stars, fined Gombe United the sum of ₦2.5 million and ordered that the remainder of the match be concluded at a neutral venue, “Gombe United, however, appealed the decision to the NFF Appeal Committee,” Isyaku disclosed.
He expressed concern that despite preparations for the return fixture, the Appeal Committee is yet to communicate its final decision on the matter.
“As things stand, we are calling on the NFF and match organisers to postpone the return match until the Appeal Committee delivers its verdict,” he said.
Despite the uncertainty, Isyaku reaffirmed the resolve of the club’s management, technical crew and players to remain focused on their ultimate objective.
“Golden Stars are fully committed to the task of securing promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League at the earliest opportunity,” he added.
