The Jigawa State Government has directed the Ministry of Justice to immediately commence appropriate legal and administrative processes in the case involving a minor, Walida Abdulhadi, who was allegedly abducted from the state and sexually molested in Abuja.
In a statement issued and made available to TRUTHS FINDER on behalf of the government, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Hamisu Muhammed Gumel, said the administration is treating the matter with utmost seriousness, given its emotional and social implications.
According to him, the Ministry of Justice has been formally mandated to follow up on the case to ensure that all due processes are strictly observed.
“The ministry is working in close coordination with relevant authorities to safeguard the rights and interests of the affected citizen,” the statement said.
Gumel noted that the government is aware of the widespread public reactions that have trailed the incident and assured that decisive steps have been taken since the matter came to light.
He disclosed that Governor Malam Umar Namadi, alongside top government functionaries, has initiated high-level consultations with appropriate authorities to ensure that the case is handled fairly, transparently and without delay.
The government reassured the people of Jigawa State that it remains committed to protecting the rights, dignity and welfare of every indigene, describing it as a fundamental responsibility of the present administration.
While promising a more detailed statement at the appropriate time, the government appreciated the concern, solidarity and prayers expressed by citizens.
Hamisu Gumel appealed to members of the public to remain calm and allow the legal and official processes to run their full course.
