The management staff of the Jigawa State Local Government Service Commission have embarked on a one-week capacity-building programme on leadership, policy formulation and implementation in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued and made available to our correspondent in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Malam Najeeb Umar.
He said the training was aimed at strengthening institutional capacity through international exposure and consolidating recent domestic achievements of the Commission.
According to the statement, the programme is designed to broaden the participants’ knowledge base and provide deeper insights into effective policy development and implementation in line with global best practices.
In his goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of the Commission urged the participants to serve as worthy ambassadors of the Commission, Jigawa State Government and Nigeria at large.
He stressed the need for the officials to cascade the knowledge and innovative ideas acquired during the workshop to their colleagues at home, to ensure that the gains of the training are widely shared across the system.
The delegation to the programme includes the three Commissioners of the Commission Alhaji Aliyu Yahaya Jahun, Sani Umar Madachi and Abdullahi Idris Dauraw.
Also participating are the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Lawal Muhammad Haruna, and the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Sani Yahaya.
Meanwhile, the statement highlighted that under the leadership of DIG Uba B. Ringim (rtd.), the Commission recorded significant milestones in 2025. These include the promotion of 1,682 staff and the organisation of 163 workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing professionalism, efficiency and institutional capacity across local government administrations in the state.
