The Jigawa Women Entrepreneurs Network (JIWEN), in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Cooperative and Tourism, and Invest-Jigawa, has organized a Women Business Summit and the Second Trade Fair in Dutse.
The event, held at the Manpower Development Institute (MDI), was declared open by the wife of the state governor, Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi, and attended by over 80 businesswomen and groups across Jigawa State.
In her remarks, Hajiya Amina Namadi described the summit as timely, noting that it would greatly expand business opportunities for women and help them upgrade their enterprises through modern innovations and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
She emphasized that empowering women entrepreneurs is a key component of the present administration’s 12-point agenda, expressing confidence that the summit would expose participants to new opportunities and enable them to strengthen and scale their businesses.
The governor’s wife commended JIWEN for its consistency and urged women to embrace modern e-entrepreneurship tools to enhance their competitiveness at both national and global levels.
Earlier in her address, JIWEN Chairperson, Hajiya Nuriya Haruna Bako, explained that the summit was organized to promote women entrepreneurs, showcase business opportunities, and foster broader economic growth.
Bako noted that this year’s theme, “Filling the Gaps: Real Interaction Towards Business Growth for Entrepreneurs in Jigawa State,” reflects the urgent need to remove barriers that hinder women and youth from starting, sustaining, and scaling their businesses.
She added that the participation of institutions such as BOI, SMEDAN, CAC, FIRS, SON, and NAFDAC provided a practical platform where entrepreneurs can engage directly with agencies offering solutions to their challenges.
“I am particularly proud that our women and youth entrepreneurs are not just participants but key contributors,” Bako said.
“They represent the future of entrepreneurship, creativity, and business leadership in Jigawa State, and JIWEN remains committed to supporting their journey.”
