Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has formally registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant political move ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
THE NATION News Paper reports that, Atiku completed his registration at Jada Ward 1 in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
His entry into the ADC follows an earlier announcement by former Interior Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who on November 19 launched the party’s nationwide registration and membership validation exercise.
Aregbesola, while confirming his own registration at Ward 8, Unit 1, Ifofin, Ilesa East LGA of Osun State, urged existing party members to validate their membership and encouraged new supporters to join.Atiku also confirmed his registration on Monday through his official X handle, sharing a photo of himself holding his ADC membership card with the caption: “It’s official.”
It will be recalled that Atiku resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July following persistent internal disagreements within the party. Around the same period, he also backed the adoption of the ADC as a coalition platform for opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
