The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved the establishment of a private College of Nursing Sciences with an authorised intake of 120 students for the 2025/2026 academic session in Hadejia, Jigawa state.
The approval was disclosed in a press statement signed and made available to TRUTHS FINDER in Dutse by the Head of Media Affairs of the college, Comrade Ahmed Ilallah.
According to him, BELBA College of Nursing Sciences, Hadejia, has secured both institutional and programme accreditation from NBTE, marking a major milestone in its quest to deliver quality healthcare education.
He explained that the approval was conveyed to the Provost in an official letter signed by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Idris M. Bugaje, confirming that the college satisfied the Board’s requirements for institutional accreditation as a College of Nursing Sciences.

Ilallah further stated that NBTE granted the institution approval to commence National Diploma (ND) programmes in Nursing Sciences. The college is authorised to admit two streams of 60 students each per academic session, bringing the total approved intake to 120 students beginning from the 2025/2026 academic year.
Describing the development as historic, Ilallah noted that the approval represents a significant breakthrough not only for the institution but also for the people of Hadejia and Jigawa State at large.
“As the pioneer Nursing and Midwifery Council-approved private College of Nursing in Hadejia, BELBA has continued to expand its academic scope and strengthen regulatory compliance, demonstrating commitment to quality healthcare education,” he said.
He added that the NBTE accreditation underscores the college’s adherence to national standards in curriculum delivery, staffing, infrastructure and administrative capacity.
According to him the approval also positions the institution firmly within Nigeria’s technical and vocational education framework, empowering it to award nationally recognised diplomas.
With admissions set to commence in the 2025/2026 academic session, BELBA College of Nursing Sciences, Hadejia, is poised to broaden its impact in producing competent, skilled and ethically grounded nursing professionals to serve communities across Nigeria.
