In a bold move to ease economic hardship during the holy month of Ramadan, the Buji Local Government Council has disbursed cash and food items to vulnerable residents across its 10 political wards.
Chairman of the council, Arch. Najeebullah Falalu Tukur, who spoke at the distribution ceremony in Gantsa, the council headquarters, said the intervention was made possible through the backing of Umar Namadi.
According to him, 50 beneficiaries received ₦50,000 each, while 120 others were supported with ₦20,000 each, carefully selected from across the wards to ensure equitable distribution.
Beyond the cash grants, the council also distributed 500 cartons of spaghetti to vulnerable households. The items were further extended to APC executives and selected party members through the new local leadership for onward distribution.
Falalu described the initiative as a strategic seasonal response designed to cushion the impact of rising living costs and provide relief to struggling families during Ramadan.In a related development, the chairman reaffirmed the council’s commitment to strengthening religious harmony and moral values in the area.
He gave the assurance while receiving an Islamic scholar deployed by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah for this year’s annual Ramadan Tafseer in Buji.
The council boss pledged full support for the cleric, stressing that the annual Tafseer remains a vital platform for promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and spiritual renewal within the community.
