The Chairman of Roni Local Government Council, Dr. Abba Ya’u Roni, has approved the recruitment of 30 volunteer personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as part of renewed measures to bolster security across the council area.
Speaking in Dutse, the local council chairman Dr. Abba Ya’u Roni said each volunteer would receive a monthly allowance of ₦30,000, in addition to a complete set of uniforms provided by the council.
Dr Abba Ya’u Roni explained that the initiative aligns with the administration’s resolve to deepen community safety and support Governor Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda, which places strong emphasis on security as a foundation for development.
According to him, the initiative is in line with his council determination to contribute the successful and effective implementation of governor Malam Umar Namadi’s 12 point agenda by ensuring peace and protecting lives and property.
“Leaders entrusted with public authority must demonstrate greater commitment to securing their communities,” he said.
As part of broader security reforms, the council chairman announced the appointment of a Special Assistant on Forest Monitoring, who would work closely with all formal and volunteers security personnel tasked with keeping surveillance over surrounding forests and reporting any suspicious activities. The appointee, he said, is to earn ₦50,000 monthly.
Dr. Roni also disclosed that the Roni Police Station had been fully renovated to enhance operational efficiency and provide officers with a more conducive working environment.
To further expand security coverage, the chairman established an NSCDC unit at Dansure, deploying personnel to offer round-the-clock protection for residents and their property.
Dr. Roni reaffirmed his administration’s determination to continue investing in measures that safeguard the community, stressing that peace and stability remain central to the council’s development priorities.
