President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed that national security, unity, and community resilience remain top priorities under his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, in a goodwill message delivered at the North-West Zonal Security Summit organised by the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on National Security at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Kaduna.
Badaru said President Tinubu is unwavering in his commitment to building a safer and more united nation, stressing that the administration is strengthening a “strong and adaptive national security architecture” supported by improved synergy across security institutions.
He noted that significant progress has been recorded due to enhanced collaboration among security stakeholders, but emphasised that national security must remain a collective responsibility, requiring the involvement of citizens, communities, and subnational governments.
The Minister reiterated the President’s directive to the Armed Forces and other security agencies to sustain operational momentum, deepen interagency cooperation, strengthen intelligence sharing, and enhance protection for schools and rural settlements.
Badaru highlighted President Tinubu’s vision of a nation built on shared prosperity, tolerance, and equal respect, noting that such values are central to lasting peace.
He commended state governors for their indispensable role as Chief Security Officers through logistics support, early-warning mechanisms, and community engagement initiatives.
Traditional rulers, women and youth groups, as well as religious leaders and civil society organisations, were also praised for their contributions in conflict mediation, community mobilisation, and combating misinformation.
The Minister lauded the Senate for convening the summit, describing it as a crucial platform for national dialogue, reflection, and accountability in the security sector.
Badaru assured stakeholders that the Ministry of Defence remains fully committed to partnering with all relevant institutions to strengthen stability, rebuild community confidence, and advance the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda across the North-West region.
