Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has formally launched the State Open Government Partnership (OGP) Action Plan III (2026–2027), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance.

The governor, who signed the document on Monday in Dutse, described the Action Plan as a strategic roadmap that would strengthen citizen participation, improve public service delivery and foster stronger collaboration between government, civil society organisations, development partners and the private sector.

Namadi said the initiative underscored his administration’s resolve to institutionalise open governance as a key driver of sustainable development across the state.

“By signing this document today, we are reaffirming that open government is not merely a policy aspiration but a guiding principle of our administration,” he said.

He directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for implementing the commitments contained in the Action Plan to treat it as a priority and work collectively to ensure its successful execution.

The governor also called on civil society organisations, development partners, traditional and religious leaders, women, youths, persons with disabilities and other stakeholders to remain actively engaged throughout the implementation process.

According to him, the success of the initiative will depend on sustained collaboration between government and citizens.

Namadi expressed appreciation to members of the State Open Government Partnership Steering Committee, the OGP Secretariat, development partners and civil society groups for their contributions to the development of the Action Plan through an inclusive consultative process.

He maintained that his administration would continue to promote openness, innovation and accountability while building responsive institutions capable of meeting the aspirations of the people.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State OGP Steering Committee, Alhaji Aminu Usman, said the Action Plan was developed through extensive consultations, technical reviews and stakeholder validation across the state.

He described the document as evidence-based and result-oriented, noting that it provides a realistic framework for improving governance and enhancing service delivery.

Usman said the successful completion of the Action Plan reflected the shared commitment of government and non-state actors to strengthening transparency, accountability and citizens’ participation in governance.

He commended Governor Namadi for providing the leadership and political support that made the process possible, saying the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance had continued to strengthen public confidence.

The deputy governor assured that the Steering Committee would closely monitor implementation, promote synergy among implementing institutions and ensure that the commitments contained in the Action Plan translate into measurable benefits for the people of Jigawa State.

He added that with the signing of the document, the focus would now shift from planning to implementation, with all stakeholders expected to play active roles in delivering the objectives of the 2026–2027 roadmap.
