Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has charged the newly inaugurated executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to uphold unity, justice and inclusiveness in order to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Namadi gave the charge in an inaugural speech delivered at the Dutse City Stadium shortly after the affirmation of the state executive committee at the party’s congress conducted through consensus.
The governor said enduring peace and cohesion within the party could only be sustained through fairness and equal access to opportunities for all members, irrespective of status or background.
According to him, the APC administration in Jigawa has consistently applied justice and inclusiveness both in governance and party affairs, a development he said has translated into visible unity, support and progress across the state.
“You can see members of the APC from across the 27 local government areas gathered here today. This is a reflection of the unity we have built over time. We thank Almighty Allah, our elders and all party faithful for their understanding and support,” he said.
Namadi described the emergence of the new executive through consensus as a clear demonstration of the party’s internal democracy and peaceful disposition.
He explained that the congress process commenced at the ward level, progressed through the local government stage and culminated at the state level all by consensus.
“All the exercises were conducted peacefully and in strict adherence to the party’s constitutional provisions. What happened today confirms that the APC in Jigawa remains one united family,” he added.
Reaffirming his earlier pledge, the governor assured that Jigawa would deliver two million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
He urged party members to begin early mobilisation to ensure victory for all APC candidates at every level.
Namadi said President Tinubu deserves a second term in view of what he described as the administration’s bold reforms and achievements in human capital and infrastructure development across the country.
“Mr President has taken courageous steps to reposition the nation’s economy and lay a solid foundation for sustainable growth. There is a need for continuity to consolidate and complete the ongoing reforms and development projects,” he stated.
The governor expressed appreciation to party elders, the Minister of State for Education, serving and former members of the National and State Assemblies, as well as other stakeholders who graced the congress.
He maintained that the renewed unity within the Jigawa APC would not only strengthen the party structure but also position it to contribute significantly to President Tinubu’s political successes in the years ahead.
