The Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State have received a total of 58,650 dosage of Polio Vaccine for the last round of this year’s (2025) polio immunization exercise kicked started early this week.
This was disclosed by the Hadejia Primary Healthcare Development Manager, Alhaji Salisu Manu Gujungu while speaking to the Truths Finder in Hadejia on the polio and rotten immunization exercise said “Hadejia PHC office received over 58, 650 dosage of vaccine from the PHCDA state”
Alhaji Salisu Manu Gujungu explained that the LGA is targeting 50,311 eligible children across 11 political wards in the area.
According to him, “there is 58 teams of the Ad-hock staff and the exercise is recording tremendous achievements on daily basis. We exceeding our daily targets every day since the commencement of the exercise”.
“We achieved to vaccinated over 10,193 children on Day-1, 10,382 on Day-2, and about 11,000 on Day-3, against our daily targets of 8,700 to 9,000.
“We have so far achieved over 75 per cent coverage for polio and other routine immunisations based on available data,” he said.
He further disclosed that non-compliance had dropped significantly in the current round, with only one resistant household recorded, already resolved with the support of traditional leaders.
On cases of child absence, he said 420 were recorded within the first three days, out of which 360 have been resolved, while the remaining 60 children travelled out of town for a ceremonies, “We have already made contacts and arrangements to address the remaining cases on the fourth day,” he assured.
In his parts the chairman of Hadejia Local Government Council, Hon. Ahmed Abba Ari, expressed satisfaction with the progress made, noting that over 420 cases of non-compliance and child absence recorded in the first two days were successfully addressed on the third day.
Speaking shortly after the Day-3 evening De-briefing at the Primary Healthcare Development (PHC) office, the chairman said the council had provided all necessary logistics to ensure the success of the ongoing exercise.
He explained that apart from the agreed ₦3 million contribution by each of the 27 local government councils in the state, Hadejia LGA also offered “additional support in cash and kind,” which he described as a major factor behind the impressive results recorded so far.
Hon. Ari reaffirmed the council’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots in line with Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s 12-Point Agenda, particularly the primary healthcare component.
He commended members of the Immunisation Mobilisation Committee and other stakeholders in the LGA for their tireless efforts, which have so far resulted in 75 per cent coverage.
