Traditional rulers in Jigawa State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Malam Umar Namadi pledging sustained cooperation for peace and development.
The Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani, made the declaration while receiving a New Year (2026) goodwill message from President Tinubu at his palace.
The message conveyed prayers for good health and strength as the Emir prepares for the forthcoming Ramadan.
According to the monarch, the Gumel Emirate Council alongside traditional and religious leaders remains firmly committed to supporting leaders whose policies prioritise human capital and infrastructure development.
He noted that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Namadi’s 12-Point Agenda are already yielding visible results in Jigawa, citing expanded road networks, railway development, and agricultural reforms aimed at mechanisation and productivity.
The Emir expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the goodwill message and commended Governor Namadi for consistently engaging traditional institutions in the state’s development process.
Presenting the message on behalf of the President, the Jigawa State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Alhaji Musa Shu’aibu Guri, praised the Emir’s decades of leadership, describing his royal stewardship as a model of unity, moral discipline and service.
Guri disclosed that Jigawa is among the major beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Agenda, revealing that three federal tertiary institutions have been approved within President Tinubu’s first two years in office.
The institutions include a Federal College of Education (Special), a Federal College of Agriculture, and a Federal College of Education located in Birnin Kudu, Kirikasamma and Birniwa local government areas.
He reaffirmed the commitment of both the Federal and Jigawa State governments to improving the welfare of citizens, assuring that more people-oriented projects would be delivered in the months ahead.
