The senator representing Jigawa North East Senatorial District, Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, has emerged unopposed as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 senatorial election.
Malam Madori secured the ticket through a consensus arrangement and was formally affirmed during the party’s primary election held in Hadejia, headquarters of the senatorial district.
His emergence followed the withdrawal of other aspirants, including retired Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, Barrister Sani Garin Gabas and Pharm. Ubali Hashim.
The affirmation exercise was conducted by the chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee from Sokoto State and attended by party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across the district.
Among dignitaries at the event were the APC Zonal Vice Chairman in Jigawa State, Hon. Muhammad Umar Dikkuma, and the State Vice Chairman, Hon. Nasiru Jahun.
Malam Madori, who currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, is seeking a second term in the National Assembly.
Speaking shortly after his affirmation, the senator appreciated party stakeholders, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.
“I want to thank our party elders and executives in Jigawa North East Senatorial District for their unwavering support. I will continue to protect and promote their interests at all times,” he said.
The lawmaker also commended Governor Umar Namadi for what he described as exemplary leadership, encouragement and political guidance that ensured a smooth consensus arrangement.
He urged APC members and supporters in the district to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the party must continue to operate as one united family.
Malam Madori further thanked the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by Hon. Achidi, as well as the Jigawa State APC Chairman, Hon. Ahmad Garba, represented by Hon. Nasiru Jahun, for ensuring a peaceful and transparent exercise.
He also praised members of the screening and election committees, party executives, local government chairmen and women leaders for their roles in the successful conduct of the primary election.
The senator pledged to continue working with party leaders and constituents to strengthen unity within the APC while promoting quality legislation and good governance for Jigawa State and Nigeria.
“We shall continue to work together to heal divisions within the party and strengthen our collective resolve towards delivering good governance to our people,” he stated.
