Senator Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, representing Jigawa North-East Senatorial District, has flagged off the construction of a 1,200-capacity international-standard multipurpose conference centre in Hadejia, Jigawa State.
The project, located at the old prison premises in the ancient city of Hadejia, is expected to provide a modern platform for conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes, professional engagements and other large-scale activities.
Madori, who was represented at the foundation-laying ceremony by former Jigawa State Deputy Speaker and Special Adviser to Governor Umar Namadi on Small Town Water Supply, Hon. Adamu Ibrahim Gira, said the project was part of his efforts to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to constituents.
He said the intervention was designed to upgrade Hadejia with modern facilities that meet international standards while strengthening the city’s capacity to host major events.
“This infrastructure intervention is aimed at strengthening the town’s capacity to host conferences, professional engagements, community programmes and other large-scale activities,” he said.
The proposed centre will feature a 1,200-capacity main conference hall, a 682-square-metre hall, stage and auditorium seating, 12 accommodation rooms, VIP lounge, mini conference room, reception courtyard, entrance porch, prayer and ablution facilities, offices and other functional spaces.
According to the senator, the conference centre is among several development interventions facilitated under his constituency representation across Jigawa North-East.
He said the projects were being implemented in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and were targeted at improving infrastructure, security, education, water supply and other critical sectors in the district.
Madori also highlighted other constituency interventions, including support for security-related projects, educational infrastructure and water supply initiatives, stressing that his priority was to ensure that his mandate produced measurable benefits for the people.
He assured residents that the conference centre would be completed within five months and put to use.
The Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maji, represented by the Galadiman Hadejia, Alhaji Usman Abdulaziz Zakar, commended Senator Madori for initiating the project.
He described the intervention as people-oriented, saying the facility would give Hadejia a modern venue for conferences, seminars, capacity-building programmes, community engagements and other major activities.
The emir urged other elected representatives to emulate initiatives capable of delivering tangible and lasting benefits to their constituents.
He also prayed for the successful and timely completion of the project, describing the centre as another important addition to the growing portfolio of development interventions across the Jigawa North-East Senatorial District.
The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Hon. Abdullahi Dukuma, also commended Madori for supporting development priorities that complement the 12-point agenda of Governor Umar Namadi.
Dukuma described the project as a demonstration of development-oriented representation and reaffirmed the party’s support for initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and socio-economic prospects of the people.
