One of the powerful bloc of Kano political stakeholders that is the forum for the former Local Government Speakers Forum has unanimously endorsed the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, as the sole APC governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
The 32-member delegation made the declaration during a visit to Senator Barau at the National Assembly, insisting that his developmental strides across Kano make him the most qualified to lead the state.
Forum Chairman, Hon. Shuaibu Haruna Gamarya, said “You are our gubernatorial candidate and, by Allah’s will, Kano’s next governor come May 29, 2027.”
In his parts the forum Secretary, Hon. Usman Muazu Garin Malam, pledged total support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid and vowed to mobilise grassroots structures for Barau’s victory.

Former Tofa Speaker, Hon. Shehu Halilu, cited life-changing projects executed by Barau “The bridge you built in our village is saving lives. Your interventions touch every community.”
A motion to adopt Barau as the forum’s official candidate was moved by Halilu and seconded immediately by former Garko Leader, Hon. Sunusi Abdu, who declared that “Anyone against Barau is an enemy of Kano, an enemy of APC, and against President Tinubu.”

Also speaking, Alhaji Salihu Sagir Takai, Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative in Kano, urged unity to secure APC’s victory in 2027.
In his response, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau thanked the group for its confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding Kano’s glory in commerce, education, industry, and good governance.
“Together, with honesty and unity, we will build a stronger and more prosperous Kano,” he said.
