The African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Assembly candidate for Gumel Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Rufai Gumel, has condemned alleged violence during an All Progressives Congress (APC) one-million-man rally held in Gumel on Wednesday.
Ahmed Rufa’i Gumel, a former chairman of Gumel Local Government Area, alleged that two people sustained injuries during the rally, including one person who was allegedly stabbed in the stomach and is receiving treatment at the Rasheed Shekoni Federal University Teaching Hospital, Dutse.
He also alleged that another person sustained a hand injury, while some motorcycles were damaged during the incident.
“We condemn this kind of politics in the strongest terms. The APC is the party in government, and the government has the primary responsibility to protect the lives and property of citizens,” he said.
Gumel called for a thorough investigation into the alleged incidents and urged relevant authorities to ensure justice for anyone affected.
He stressed that the lives and property of residents must be protected regardless of their political affiliation.
“The lives, health and property of the people of Gumel are sacred and must be respected by all,” he said.
