Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo recently held a closed-door meeting with senior members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his private residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Among those present were Alhaji Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside other notable party stakeholders, including former state governors.
TRUTHS FINDER gathered that the engagement formed part of ongoing consultations among key opposition figures as political actors continue to review developments within the country’s political landscape ahead of future electoral activities.
Although details of the meeting were not officially disclosed, it was observed that several prominent PDP leaders were in attendance, with their presence at the venue documented during the period of the engagement.
Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that the talks broadly focused on national issues, internal party affairs, and the need for strategic cohesion within the opposition.
However, no formal communiqué was issued at the end of the meeting.
The meeting has attracted political interest, coming at a time when consultations among senior political figures across different platforms have become more frequent.
In his remarks during the interaction, former President Obasanjo was quoted as encouraging party leaders to remain committed to constructive engagement, stressing the importance of internal reconciliation, discipline, and leadership responsibility in strengthening party structures.
