Leaders of the ACCORD Party in the North-West geopolitical zone, comprising members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and state chairmen, have unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the party’s national leadership under its Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem.
The decision was contained in a statement signed by the forum spokesperson and Jigawa State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Isah Inshallah, and made available to National Update in Dutse on Sunday.
According to the statement, the vote of confidence was reached at a meeting of the North-West ACCORD NWC members and state chairmen held at Three Stars Hotel, Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
The leaders said the decision was informed by what they described as the “tireless efforts” of the national chairman in uniting, strengthening and repositioning the party across the country.
They also dismissed reports suggesting divisions or factionalisation within the ACCORD Party, describing such claims as misleading and unfounded.
The North-West leaders urged Nigerians to disregard the reports and instead focus on the party’s manifesto, which they said outlines people-oriented programmes capable of moving the nation forward through inclusive leadership.
In the statement, Alhaji Adamu Isah Inshallah condemned the recent actions of the party’s former presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Emumolen, accusing him of making moves capable of causing confusion within the party.
He stated that Professor Emumolen was no longer a member of the ACCORD Party, having been expelled over alleged anti-party activities, including reported support for another political party.
The North-West leaders further commended the Osun State Governor for what they described as his bold decision to join the ACCORD Party, assuring him of the party’s full backing ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
They pledged the commitment of the party’s leadership and members in the North-West to mobilise political structures and resources to ensure the success of the ACCORD Party in the election.
