Communities along the proposed Malam Madori–Dakyayyawa–Dakido road corridor in Malam Madori and Kaugama Local Government Areas have expressed deep frustration over the alleged failure of their representative in the House of Representatives, Hon. Makki Abubakar Yalleman, to deliver the road project as earlier promised.
Speaking on behalf of the affected communities, a youth leader, Abdullahi Chipro, said the road project, spanning over 15 kilometres, was initiated with assurances that it would be completed by December.
According to him, construction work which began from Malam Madori has covered less than three kilometres, even as the year draws to a close.
“With less than two weeks to the end of December, what we see on ground is not encouraging at all. Less than three kilometres have been done out of more than 15 kilometres promised,” Chipro lamented.
He further alleged that the quality of work on the completed portion of the road is substandard, claiming that poor-quality materials were used in the construction.
Findings by Truths Finder revealed that the road project, being executed under the supervision of Hon. Yalleman, commenced in 2024, but progress has remained slow, with only about three kilometres completed so far.
Truths Finder also gathered that the federal lawmaker publicly announced the project during a political gathering attended by the Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, where beneficiaries were assured of timely completion.
Residents further recalled that during a town hall meeting in Malam Madori Local Government Area, Hon. Yalleman had promised that the road would be completed and commissioned before the end of 2025, with the Executive Governor invited to officially inaugurate the project.
However, going by the current pace of work, community members fear that the promise of completing and commissioning the asphalted road linking Malam Madori to Kaugama within the stipulated timeframe may not be realised.
As frustration grows, residents are now calling on the lawmaker and relevant authorities to intervene urgently and ensure the project is completed to acceptable standards.
