By Ahmed Rufa’i, Dutse
Cracks within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State widened as a former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Sule Dutse, formally resigned from the party, accusing its leadership of injustice, intimidation and a lack of internal democracy.
Dutse, a former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and immediate past Special Adviser on the Dutse Capital Development Authority (DCDA), announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Kachi Ward in Dutse Local Government Area.
In the letter, dated July 15, 2026 (1st Safar, 1448 AH), the former lawmaker blamed his decision on what he described as the “unjustified and deceitful” conduct of the state government’s reconciliation committee.
He alleged that the committee was deliberately constituted to edge out certain aspirants, accusing it of bias, intimidation and manipulating the party’s internal processes.

“As one of the founding members of the APC, I can no longer remain in a party where fairness and justice have been sacrificed. The role played by the reconciliation committee was questionable and unacceptable,” he stated.
Speaking with Truths Finder, Dutse disclosed that he had actually resigned from the APC about two months ago after leaving his appointment as Special Adviser to the DCDA.
He explained that the advisory office had become largely inactive, claiming that most of its statutory responsibilities had been transferred to other government agencies.
The former legislator, however, dismissed suggestions that his resignation was merely a fallout of his failure to secure the APC ticket for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, his decision was based on the party’s alleged abandonment of merit, competence and transparency in selecting its candidates.

“I believe politics should be driven by competence, integrity and experience. Unfortunately, what played out was completely different from those principles,” he said.
Dutse, who said he served 12 years in the Jigawa State House of Assembly, argued that the APC overlooked more qualified aspirants in the selection process.
He also criticised Governor Umar Namadi and the APC leadership in the state, insisting that the explanations given for denying him the party’s ticket lacked credibility.
The former lawmaker further alleged that loyal members, especially those from the legacy Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), had been marginalised in favour of newcomers who played no role in building the party.
Looking ahead, Dutse revealed that consultations were ongoing with his political associates and leaders of other political parties.
He expressed his determination to contest for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections on another platform if given the opportunity.
“I have spent more than 40 years in politics. Politics is about service, experience and capacity. I will soon unveil my next political platform after concluding consultations,” he said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to democratic politics, saying he would continue his political journey on a platform that promotes fairness, merit and internal democracy.
As of the time of filing this report, the Jigawa State chapter of the APC had yet to respond to the allegations despite efforts to obtain its reaction.
