The Partnership for Inclusive Local Governance and Budget (PILGOB) has applauded Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, for unveiling the 2025–2030 Local Government Development Plan, describing the initiative as a landmark step toward strengthening grassroots governance and accelerating sustainable development across the state’s 27 local government areas.

In a statement signed by its Secretary General, Comrade Ahmed Ilallah, the civil society coalition said the development blueprint reflects the governor’s commitment to institutionalising strategic planning, accountability, transparency, and citizen participation in local governance.

According to the group, the six-year development plan will provide each local government council with a clear roadmap, measurable targets, and defined priorities to improve service delivery and drive socio-economic growth in communities across Jigawa.

Governor Umar Namadi officially unveiled the Local Government Development Plan (2025–2030) on Monday at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Dutse, describing it as part of his administration’s resolve to entrench long-term planning and ensure balanced development across the state.

Reacting to the development, PILGOB said the blueprint offers a comprehensive framework for sustainable development, economic transformation, improved public service delivery, and stronger institutional capacity at the local government level.

The organisation also commended development partners, technical experts, government officials, and other stakeholders whose contributions made the preparation of the document possible.

PILGOB urged all the 27 local government councils in the state to implement the plan diligently while adhering to the principles of transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and prudent public financial management.

The coalition expressed optimism that faithful implementation of the development plan would deepen democratic governance, strengthen citizen participation in decision-making, and significantly improve the quality of life of people across Jigawa State.

“The unveiling of this development plan is a significant milestone in building effective and responsive local governments capable of delivering meaningful development to the people,” the statement added.
