The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Jigawa State for the 2027 general election, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, has unveiled his campaign council, setting the stage for an intensified political battle ahead of the poll.
Lamido will chair the campaign council, while his running mate, Alhaji Inuwa Muhammad Tahir, will serve as Deputy Chairman.
The former Inspector-General of Police, IGP (rtd) Suleiman Abba, CFR, Mni, is among the prominent figures drafted into the campaign team as Director of Security.
This was contained in a statement personally signed by Lamido and released in Dutse.
The statement named Hon. Shehu Liman Wan as Director-General of the campaign council, while Senator Mustapha Khabeeb was appointed Vice Chairman I, Jigawa Central.
Ambassador Ibrahim Musa Kazaure will serve as Vice Chairman II, Northwest, while former House of Representatives member, Hon. Yusuf Saleh Dunari, was appointed Vice Chairman III, Northeast.
Hon. Aminu Wada Abubakar, PDP candidate for Dutse/Kiyawa Federal Constituency, was named Director of Finance, while Hon. Nasir Mohammed is the Secretary.
Dr. Nuraddeen Muhammad will serve as Director of Strategy and Mobilisation, with Dr. Umar H. Birniwa as Director of Planning, Research, Organisation, Documentation and Venues.
Fahad Hashim was appointed Director of Youth and Support Groups, while Hajiya Murja Aliyu Garki will head Women Mobilisation.
Hon. Umar Kyari was named Director of Media and Publicity.
The campaign council also includes former Jigawa Deputy Governor, Dr. Babandi Gumel; Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Taura; Hon. Salisu Mamuda; Dr. Mohammed Abdu Mago; Dr. Tafida Abubakar; and Hon. Mohammed Habeeb Barde.
Others listed are Hon. Nasir Umar Roni, Hon. Suraja Garba, Engr. Rabi’u Haruna, Rt. Hon. Isah Zakari Bosuwa, Hon. Ali Idris Diginsa, Hon. Umar Danjani and Hon. Mannir Muhammad Turmi.
The council further includes Rt. Hon. Idris Alhaji Garba Kareka, Rt. Hon. Isa Idris, Hon. Yakubu Adamu Danmaliki, Hon. Nasir Mohammad, Hon. Shehu Liman Wan and Hon. Adamu Shu’aibu Jigawa Tsada.
Also named are Hon. Ibrahim Nasir, Dr. Umar Hassan Birniwa, Dr. Auwal Muhammad Gwaram, Dr. Anas Abdu Gemu, Alhaji Hamisu Magajin Mallam Hadejia and Alhaji Danjuma Mai Siminti.
Others are Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, Alhaji Dahiru Step-by-step, Alhaji Bashir Dabuwaran, Alhaji Abba Alasan, Alhaji Guda Bamaina, Alhaji Haruna Maitaimako, Alhaji Isa Ahmed Duniya Bahutu and Alhaji Magaji Galadima.
Prof. Mustapha Jarumi, members of the PDP State Working Committee and officials of the Directorate of Campaign are also members of the council.
The unveiling of the campaign council comes following the commencement of the electioneering period for the 2027 general election in accordance with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The development marks a major step by the PDP candidate towards activating his campaign machinery and mobilising party supporters across Jigawa State ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
