Christian groups within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State have reaffirmed their allegiance to the party and pledged support for its presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and Jigawa governorship candidate, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The groups made their position known during a solidarity visit to Senator Nakudu at his residence in Dutse, the state capital.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, its leader, Rev. Musa Alasan Taura, said the visit was aimed at reaffirming their commitment to the ADC and expressing support for Atiku, Nakudu and other party candidates contesting various elective positions in the 2027 elections.

Taura said the groups were prepared to mobilise support for the ADC candidates and work towards their success at the polls.
The visit was among several solidarity engagements received by Nakudu. Other groups included the Birnin Kudu ADC New Movement 2027; ADC commercial drivers who displayed the party’s flags and banners on their vehicles; the Atiku-Nakudu-Baraya-Bala-Dalhatu Movement from Jigawa Central Senatorial District; and the Danmodi Greenlight Association of Kiyawa Local Government Area, which has adopted the name Nakudu Greenlight Association.

Responding, Nakudu said the ADC was not established to promote religious, ethnic, linguistic or cultural divisions, but to provide equal opportunities for Nigerians to practise their faith and preserve their cultural identities without discrimination.
He said the economic hardship confronting Nigerians made it particularly disturbing that some political actors were, in his view, exploiting religious, linguistic and cultural differences to deepen social divisions for political purposes.
According to him, Nigeria needs leadership committed to national cohesion, justice and equal opportunity rather than the exploitation of diversity as a tool for political mobilisation.
Nakudu further said that if Atiku Abubakar wins the 2027 presidential election, an ADC administration would pursue policies focused on economic recovery, social inclusion, justice and equality irrespective of religious or linguistic differences.
He assured Christians in Jigawa that an ADC administration would provide them with opportunities to participate meaningfully in the governance of the state if the party wins the 2027 governorship election.
The ADC has officially identified Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, with Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate.
Nakudu urged the Christian groups and other ADC supporters to remain committed to the party and sustain their mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
