Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, has Woos Voters and received Defectors while launching his campaign for the Jigawa South-West Senatorial District seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), beginning with Gwaram and Birnin Kudu local government areas.

Speaking in Gwaram, the former police chief expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to commence the campaign, promising to work towards finding lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the people.

The campaign train reportedly attracted defectors from other political parties, who joined the PDP during the visits to the two local government areas.

Abba, who called on voters to support his ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledged to deploy his wealth of experience in public service and commitment to democratic governance to promote development across the senatorial district.

He described himself as the most experienced among the 10 contestants seeking the senatorial seat, urging residents, including indigenes and non-indigenes, to support his bid.

The candidate also promised to visit all 11 wards in Gwaram Local Government Area to canvass support and engage with voters on their expectations from their representatives.

The campaign began with a gathering at the PDP local government secretariat, where party members and supporters converged to receive the candidate. The event was followed by a roadshow through communities across the local government to mobilise voters for the party.

The following day, Abba and other PDP leaders took the campaign to Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, where they also held a rally and engaged residents as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots support.

Earlier, the PDP House of Representatives candidate for Gwaram, Isah Idris Gwaram, and a former party chairman, Isah Ahmad Duniya Bahutu, urged the electorate to support the party, expressing confidence in its ability to deliver on its promises.

As part of his consultations, Abba also met with non-indigenes in the area to seek their support and strengthen the party’s mobilisation ahead of the elections.

The campaign train reportedly attracted defectors from other political parties, who joined the PDP during the visits to the two local government areas.

In a further move to consolidate its grassroots presence, the PDP inaugurated a campaign office in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area to coordinate activities and boost its electoral mobilisation across the senatorial district.
