Fresh indications from the ongoing African Democratic Congress (ADC) primaries in Jigawa State have placed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Hon. Bashir Adamu Jumbo firmly ahead in the presidential and governorship contests respectively.
The development emerged as collation of results resumed at the ADC coalition centre located at Tashir Guests Palace in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, after nearly 12 hours of suspension.Sources at the collation centre disclosed that Hon. Bashir Adamu Jumbo recorded a massive surge in votes from several local government areas, strengthening his lead over other aspirants contesting for the party’s governorship ticket.
Investigations by Truths Finder revealed that Jumbo secured commanding victories in Kazaure, Gwiwa, Roni and Yankwashi local government areas, placing him in a comfortable position ahead of Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, his main challenger in the race.
The ADC governorship contest in the state is currently between two prominent politicians, Hon. Bashir Adamu Jumbo from Jigawa North-East Senatorial District and Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu from Jigawa South-East Senatorial District.
Both aspirants are former federal lawmakers with long political histories spanning different political parties, including the PDP, ANPP and APC, before joining the ADC ahead of the 2027 political realignments.
Political analysts believe Jumbo’s growing dominance may not be unconnected with his long-standing influence within the party structure in Jigawa State.
A four-term member of the House of Representatives, Jumbo is widely recognised as one of the early promoters of the ADC in the state.
Party insiders also described him as a key financier whose contributions helped strengthen the party’s grassroots presence across the 27 local government areas.
The rising profile of the ADC in Jigawa has recently attracted several high-profile defections from the APC, PDP and NNPP, positioning the party as an emerging force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
