Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded arrangements to participate in the party’s forthcoming national convention in Abuja, with a total of 287 delegates confirmed for the exercise.
The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Ahmed Garba Maikudi, disclosed this after a State Executive Committee meeting in Dutse, where final preparations were sealed.
He revealed that the delegation would depart the state on Friday ahead of the convention scheduled for Saturday, noting that all logistics have been put in place.
“We have already submitted the list of delegates to the national headquarters and concluded all arrangements. Everything is going perfectly,” Maikudi said.
A breakdown of the delegation shows a mix of elected and statutory delegates. While each of the 27 local government areas produced three elected delegates, bringing the number to 81 statutory delegates include former National Assembly members, ex-governors and their deputies, as well as former principal officers of the State House of Assembly.
Speaking on the mode of decision-making, the APC leadership in the state reaffirmed its support for consensus, describing it as a strategy to sustain unity within the party.
“All our leaders are in agreement. There will be no serious contest as consensus remains our preferred option,” he added.The move signals strong internal cohesion within the Jigawa APC, as the party positions itself for a smooth and hitch-free national convention.
