The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has taken a major step towards strengthening its operations with the inauguration of heads of seven newly established strategic units to enhance efficiency, coordination and service delivery across the state.

The development is part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the Board to better discharge its statutory responsibilities.

Commandant-General of the Board, Dr. Fa’iz Bashir Haruna, disclosed this during the inauguration ceremony held at the Board’s headquarters in Dutse.

He commended Governor Umar Namadi for what he described as sustained support in transforming the Hisbah institution into a more vibrant and effective agency.

According to him, the governor’s interventions, including the recruitment of additional personnel, upward review of staff allowances, provision of operational vehicles, distribution of new uniforms and other working materials, have significantly strengthened the Board’s operational capacity.

Dr. Haruna urged officers across the headquarters, zonal commands and local government offices to embrace teamwork and professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities.

He explained that the appointment of the new unit heads followed a rigorous merit-based screening process.

“The appointments were made strictly on merit after careful screening. I am confident that each of you has the competence and integrity to justify the confidence reposed in you. I pray that Allah grants you wisdom and guidance in the discharge of your duties,” he said.

Describing the inauguration as another milestone in the Board’s reform agenda, the Commandant-General expressed optimism that the new structure would improve efficiency and deepen public confidence in the institution.

Earlier, the Secretary and Legal Adviser of the Board, Mustapha Habu Gumel, said the specialised units were created following a management resolution to strengthen internal coordination and improve implementation of the Board’s mandate.

He noted that the restructuring was designed to make the Board more responsive and effective in addressing emerging operational challenges.

Also speaking, the Deputy Commandant-General, Dr. Hussain Yusuf Baban, outlined the responsibilities of the newly created units and charged the appointees to discharge their duties with commitment, integrity and strict adherence to the laws establishing the Jigawa State Hisbah Board.

The newly inaugurated officials include Sagiru Salisu Gwaram, Head of Operations Department; Aminu Ahmad Kiyawa, Head of Security and Intelligence Department; Abdulhamid A. Adam, Head of Guidance and Counselling Department; Maryam G. Ibrahim, Head of Women Affairs Department; Gambo Idi Ali, Training and Provost Officer; Dauda Muhammad Hadejia, Public Relations and Media Officer; and Mudassir Muhammad, Personal Assistant and Protocol Officer to the Commandant-General.

The ceremony was attended by senior management staff of the Board, including Assistant Commander-Generals from the Hadejia, Kazaure, Gumel, Ringim and Dutse zones.
