The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has kicked off vaccination for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj, in a move aimed at ensuring a safe and hitch-free pilgrimage.
The development was announced in a statement issued by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Habibu Yusuf Babura (ANIPR), and made available to TRUTHS FINDER in Dutse.
The Board said the exercise is part of its broader preparations to guarantee a successful Hajj operation, stressing that vaccination remains a compulsory requirement for all intending pilgrims.
Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Ahmad Umar Labbo, described the exercise as a critical health measure designed to protect pilgrims from diseases and ensure a seamless experience from departure in Nigeria to their stay in the Holy Land and safe return.
He noted that the vaccination would significantly boost pilgrims’ immunity, adding that comprehensive health measures have already been put in place to safeguard their wellbeing.
Labbo further disclosed that arrangements for the 2026 Hajj are in advanced stages, with key programmes already being finalised.
On the medical front, Head of the Medical Team, Dr. Abubakar Habib, assured that adequate vaccines are available, stressing that the exercise will continue until all intending pilgrims are fully covered.
Also, Director of Hajj Operations, Muhammad Garba, urged pilgrims to strictly adhere to all health guidelines prescribed by Saudi authorities.
The Board, however, expressed appreciation to Governor Umar Namadi for his sustained support, which it said remains instrumental to the success of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
