Despite growing political calculations ahead of the 2027 general elections, Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has not issued any official directive compelling political appointees to resign.

Findings by Truths Finder reveal that neither the governor nor the cabinet office has released a formal notice directing appointees to step down in line with provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act.

However, in what appears to be a preemptive move, no fewer than 14 aides have already tendered their resignations.

A reliable source within the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development, noting that those who resigned are mostly Special Advisers and Special Assistants.

“Even without an official notice, some appointees have chosen to resign. So far, about 14 have stepped down. None of the commissioners has resigned as of now, although there are indications that one or two may do so soon,” the source disclosed.

Efforts to get an official reaction from the state government were unsuccessful. The Commissioner for Information, Sports, Youth and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, neither answered calls nor responded to a text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report.

Similarly, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Hamisu Mohammed, said he could not immediately provide clarity, citing the governor’s unavailability.

“The governor is not around, and I have not been able to reach him. However, I have forwarded your enquiry to the SSG. You may also contact the party chairman,” he said.

Among those reported to have resigned are aides serving in key areas such as the Dutse Capital Development Authority (DCDA), Investment Development, and Assembly Matters. Names mentioned include Hon. Musa Sule Dutse, Amb. Usman Inuwa Dutse, and Hon. Suraja Kantoga, among others.

The wave of resignations, though unofficially triggered, signals early political realignments as the countdown to 2027 gradually gathers momentum.
