The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Jigawa State for the 2027 election, Mustapha Sule Lamido, has called for greater unity and synergy among the state’s political and community elites to accelerate development.
Lamido made the call in a goodwill message to the people of Jigawa State to mark the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation, stressing that unity remained critical to achieving its aspirations.
The PDP candidate, who is the Santurakin Dutse, acknowledged the progress recorded by the state over the past 35 years but said significant development gaps and challenges remained to be addressed.
He said Jigawa had made considerable strides since its creation but still had a “huge task ahead” if it was to realise its full economic and social development potential.
According to him, “the state still has important development gaps to close and challenges to overcome in its quest to achieve its full potential.”
Lamido added: “Without doubt, we have come a long way over the years and Jigawa has a lot of achievements to be proud of. But we still have more gaps to bridge and hurdles to cross in terms of where we aspire to be.”
He urged political leaders, traditional institutions, professionals and other influential citizens of the state to work together irrespective of political, social or other differences.
Lamido stressed that greater commitment, dedication and collective action were needed to accelerate the pace of development and build a more prosperous Jigawa.
He also thanked Allah for granting millions of Jigawa residents the opportunity to witness the 35th anniversary in good health, while congratulating the people of the state on the milestone.
The governorship hopeful acknowledged the achievements recorded since the creation of Jigawa, describing them as worthy of celebration, while urging residents not to relent in their efforts to build on the progress already made.
He prayed for continued peace, stability and prosperity in the state, urging the people to embrace unity, determination and commitment towards making Jigawa a shining example in Nigeria and beyond.
